Today is the 3rd January. Pani has taken the day off work today and is taking me sightseeing. After some breakfast at a local cafe we set off on foot heading for Wat Pho, a Buddhist temple containing the Reclining Buddha.
There were lots of interesting things at the temple, Pani said a few prayers, and we stayed for about an hour. After this we had some lunch, Pad Thai, from a local street food vendor. This was followed by some coconut ice cream (both 50 Baht, or £1.20)
After lunch we got the local taxi boat across the Chao Phraya River and went to another temple, Wat Arun (this is shown lit up at night at the top of this post).
We spent the rest of the afternoon visiting different places along the river including Asiatique, and ended up at IconSiam where we saw the dancing water show.
In the evening we were booked on a Dinner River Cruise along the Chao Phraya River. It was really good to see everything all lit up along the banks of the river. The dinner was buffet style, and had a good selection of food. There was a band playing covers of western music. After we had eaten, there was another surprise in store for me, another birthday cake. This time presented in front of hundreds of people, singing happy birthday to me.
