It is mid November now and I have just handed in my notice at work, and given a months notice on my flat. There is no going back now. Handing in my notice at work was a great feeling, I had not been happy at work for a while.
I joined the company back in 1991 when it was a small, young, and exciting technology company that was going places. We manufactured and maintained small scale CHP units and were the market leader in our field in the UK. Over the years the company got bought out by bigger and bigger companies, and each time part of the soul of the company was lost.
My retirement date 16th December is fast approaching and I am busy sorting through the stuff I have accumulated over the years. Most stuff will have to be disposed of. If it can’t fit it in my suitcase, then it will have to go. I am planning a clean break, putting nothing in storage. When I leave the UK I will only be taking with me what I can put on the plane, a suitcase and rucksack for hand luggage.
I have arranged with the British Heart Foundation to come and take away all my furniture and electrical items, They can sell it in their shop and make themselves some money.
I have been looking into foreign and online bank accounts. I think I will need a few, I don’t want to be relying on just one bank card, when I discover it has just stopped working.
The weather is getting colder now here in Manchester, and the nights are drawing in. I can only dream about warmer weather for now.
