001 – Oct 22 – Starting this Blog

It is October 2022 and my plans for retirement are now at an advanced stage. I have now told most people that I am retiring at the end of this year and will be moving to Southeast Asia at the start of 2023. I’ve booked my flights and will be spending Christmas and New Year in Dubai with family. I will arrive in Bangkok Thailand on 2nd January 2023.

The Countries of Southeast Asia

As can be seen in the map above Southeast Asia is quite a large area. There are 11 countries that make up Southeast Asia. These are:

Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia and East Timor.

The plan is to visit all of the 11 countries at some point. In some countries I will visit many exotic places. and in others visit just a few.

Why this blog ?

The idea behind this blog that I am putting together, is to serve two purposes. Firstly to record where I have been so that I can look back on it in years to come and relive some of the memories. Secondly it can be viewed by people who are interested in what I am up to on my travels. A third reason, I suppose, is to give me something to do. I can be very good at just doing nothing. So hopefully this blog can be a distraction from that.
